The Starduster Orchestra is a traditional big band. While playing music from all periods, we specialize in swing, and other dance music, from the 30's, 40's and 50's. Because we perform original arrangements with original instrumentation, our audiences get to enjoy the swingin' sound of the Big Band Era the way it was played... the excitement of our music compels audiences from eighteen to eighty to get up and dance.
Based in Marin County, The Starduster Orchestra performs at private parties and public venues throughout the Bay Area. Some of our regular venues have been the Coconut Grove, where we performed monthly for over three years. We have also played to sell-out audiences at The Great American Music Hall, The Fillmore, Joe LoCoco's and the Seafood Peddler. A more complete list of venues and organizations we've played for appears below in this web page.
First organized in June of 1996, our objective has always been to give our audiences the highest quality music and dance experience possible while staying true to our original goal of playing the very best original and custom arrangements available. While we have had a number of personnel changes since we started, many of the original musicians are still with us.
The Starduster Orchestra can play dance or show performances for your event. We often perform with one or more vocalist and can include dance demonstrations and lessons. Also, we can be scaled down to better fit your space or budget, if necessary.
